KölnTourist steers ten ships across the Rhine for the spectacular fireworks event
After a break of several years, the time has finally come again next year: the Cologne Lights, one of the largest and most famous fireworks events in Germany, is returning! On 30.08.2025, the sky above the cathedral city will once again shine in impressive colors and hundreds of thousands of spectators will enjoy the breathtaking fireworks on the Rhine and along the river. On a total of ten ships, guests of KölnTourist Personenschiffahrt and its partner shipping companies can expect an unforgettable evening full of spectacular light and sound displays, delicious food and drink and a colorful supporting program with music and dancing.
"We are delighted that the organizer Werner Nolden has managed to revive this unique event," says Angelika Schmitz, Managing Director of KölnTourist Personenschifffahrt. "The best thing is that we were able to win back some of our long-standing partner shipping companies for the Kölner Lichter in 2025. This enables us to once again offer our guests a wide variety of cruise formats. It was and is particularly important to us to enable all interested parties to take part in the Cologne Lights Cruise."
KölnTourist is launching a completely new concept for a young target group with the party offer on the MS RheinLand. Here, DJ Tuco will create an exuberant atmosphere with hip hop, Afro, Latin, dancehall and Amapiano, while delicious finger food and selected drinks will be provided all inclusive. On the elegant MS RheinCargo and the small, cozy ships MS RheinPerle and MS RheinTreue, an all-inclusive package with a delicious hot and cold gourmet buffet and drinks is available. In addition, the extraordinary MS Moby Dick from Bonner Fähr- und Fahrgastschifffahrt (BFF), the Bonn-based company owned by the Schmitz family, will also be there again, also with an extensive all-inclusive offer.
In addition, there are ships from long-standing partner shipping companies. A particularly popular ship among KölnTourist's regular customers was and is the MS La Paloma of Marksburgschiffahrt Vomfell from Koblenz, on which guests can look forward to a delicious two-course menu from the on-board kitchen and a wide range of all-inclusive drinks in 2025. The MS Eureka from the Dutch Reederij Eureka and the MS Stadt Vallendar from Personenschifffahrt Gilles in Koblenz will also be back with their all-inclusive ships. The MS Germania from Rees on the Lower Rhine is once again recommended as a party ship. The unique Mississippi steamer MS River Lady from Wesel is a new addition to the KölnTourist offer at the upcoming Cologne Lights. This rustic, cozy ship with its unusual appearance offers a delicious sailor's buffet from the ship's own kitchen.
The boats depart from Cologne, Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer between Musical Dome and Bastei, from the KölnTourist jetty at the Chocolate Museum or from Porz.
KölnTourist offers boat trips and boat charters at the most important hubs on the Rhine in the Cologne/Bonn area, an unforgettable and exclusive variety of experiences for a real change of perspective, plenty of relaxation and lots of good humor on one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe. A personal and individual service, delicious food from selected partners and a very good price-performance ratio round off the offer.
